Packaging & Label Design for Norway Brands
We design packaging and labels for Norwegian seafood, food, kosttilskudd and skincare brands selling through local grocery chains, pharmacies and export markets. Norway is outside the EU but follows many of its rules through the EEA, so we plan layouts that work for Norwegian copy and adapt to export versions. Labeling requirements in Norway
The Norwegian Food Safety Authority (Mattilsynet) enforces food labelling through the Food Information Regulation, which applies EU FIC under the EEA Agreement. Mandatory information must generally be in Norwegian.
- Food: EU FIC particulars apply, including emphasised allergens, the nutrition declaration and minimum text size.
- Supplements: the Norwegian food supplement regulation sets the label statements, and products with medicinal claims can be reclassified.
- Keyhole: the Nøkkelhullet symbol is voluntary and has product criteria.
- Cosmetics: follows Regulation 1223/2009 through the EEA. Mattilsynet supervises the sector, importers and producers register with it, and products are notified in CPNP.
- CBD: generally treated as a prescription medicine, so it isn't a retail packaging category.
