Labeling requirements in Switzerland

The Federal Food Safety and Veterinary Office (FSVO) oversees food and cosmetics, and Swissmedic regulates medicines. Mandatory information must appear in at least one official language: German, French or Italian.

Food: the Foodstuffs Act and the FDHA Ordinance on Food Information (LIV), including the country of production, which EU labels don't always show.
Supplements: the FDHA ordinance on food supplements (VNem), with products that cross into medicinal claims falling under Swissmedic.
Cosmetics: regulated as consumer goods, with a Swiss-based responsible party for imported products.
Swissness: "Swiss made" claims and the Swiss cross must meet the Swissness rules on origin.
CBD: extracts in food are novel foods needing authorisation, and CBD cosmetics must show the source is hemp seeds or leaves.
