Labeling requirements in Netherlands
The Netherlands Food and Consumer Product Safety Authority (NVWA) enforces EU Regulation 1169/2011 and the Dutch Warenwet. Mandatory information must be in Dutch, or in another language easily understood by consumers.
- Food: EU FIC particulars, emphasised allergens, the nutrition declaration and 1.2 mm minimum x-height.
- Supplements: the Warenwetbesluit voedingssupplementen applies, with EU-authorised health claims only.
- Cosmetics: Regulation 1223/2009, with an EU Responsible Person and CPNP notification.
- Packaging: producers placing packaged goods on the Dutch market have extended producer responsibility obligations through Verpact.
- Packaging: extended producer responsibility has applied since October 1, 2025, with registration and fees for packaging sold in Denmark.
- CBD: ingestible products are treated as novel foods under EU rules.
