Serbia Packaging Regulations

MZ (Ministarstvo zdravlja, Ministry of Health) and MPŠV (Ministarstvo poljoprivrede, šumarstva i vodoprivrede, Ministry of Agriculture) jointly govern food labelling aligned with EU FIC under Serbia's SAA. Serbian (Cyrillic script, ћирилица) is the constitutionally mandated official script; Latin script is widely used commercially and on packaging and is legally accepted. EU FIC harmonisation is progressively implemented under the SAA acquis approximation. Šumadinjan raspberry (fresh and frozen) is a candidate for EU GI registration; Šljivovica (plum brandy) has been registered as a Serbian GI and discussions on EU-level recognition are ongoing under the SAA. ALIMS (Агенција за лекове и медицинска средства / Agencija za lekove i medicinska sredstva, Agency for Medicines and Medical Devices of Serbia) regulates pharmaceutical packaging in alignment with EMA standards.
