What affects packaging design cost?
Two projects that both look like "one pouch" can be priced very differently. These are the things that move the number, in roughly the order they matter.
- Packaging type
- A flat label is the simplest job. A pouch has front, back and gussets, and a box has six or more panels, so they take longer. That is why our prices start at $149 for a label and $249 for a box.
- Number of SKUs
- Every flavor, size or variant needs its own artwork. A product line also needs a design system, so the range looks like one family and each SKU is still easy to tell apart.
- Design complexity
- A clean, text-led label uses your logo and photos. Custom illustration, hand-drawn type or a luxury finish such as foil or spot UV takes more design time.
- Regulatory panels
- Supplement Facts, Nutrition Facts and ingredient lists have strict layout rules. We lay out the text you supply; final regulatory review stays with you or your adviser.
- Dielines
- If your printer gives you a dieline, the designer works to it. If not, one has to be built from your pack's exact measurements first.
- Revisions
- Fixed-price projects include 2–3 revision rounds. Clear feedback in one round keeps a project inside its price.
- Rush delivery
- Rush delivery is available on one-off projects. It means moving other work around, so the faster timeline is confirmed in your quote.

Freelancer vs agency vs packaging specialist
Who you hire changes the price more than anything else. The ranges below are our own estimates of typical market pricing, not survey data.
Budget freelancer$50–$300 per label
Fast and cheap, but quality and print knowledge vary a lot. Fine for testing a concept.
Mid-range freelancer$500–$2,500 per project
A good freelancer can do great work. You manage the brief, the printer and the deadlines yourself.
Packaging specialistFixed prices from $149 per design
Works only on labels and packaging, so dielines, facts panels and print files are routine, not a learning curve.
Full-service agency$5,000–$50,000+ per project
Strategy, research and big-team process. Worth it for retail launches with large budgets.

How to reduce your packaging design cost
Get the dieline from your printer first
Most printers supply a free dieline for their stock pouches, boxes and label sizes. Sending it with your brief saves building one and avoids a reprint.
Finalize your copy before design starts
Ingredients, claims, net weight and barcode should be final. Copy changes after the layout is done are the most common reason a project needs extra rounds.
Design a SKU system, not one-offs
Design one master layout, then change color, flavor name and facts panel per variant. Every new flavor is then faster and the range looks consistent.
Collect your references in one place
Share two or three packs you like and one you don't. Clear direction up front means fewer concepts that miss.
Batch your feedback
Gather everyone's comments into one list per round. Feedback from different people across several emails uses up revision rounds quickly.

FAQ
Our label design starts at $149 per design, and bottle labels also start at $149. That includes the ingredient and facts panel layout, 2–3 revision rounds and print-ready files. Custom illustration, extra SKUs and add-ons such as 3D mockups raise the price.
The price depends on the packaging type, how many SKUs you have, how complex the design is, whether you need regulatory panels or a dieline built, and how fast you need it. Who you hire matters too: a budget freelancer, a specialist and a full-service agency work at very different price points.
Yes. Our one-off prices are per design, so each flavor, size or variant that needs its own artwork is a separate design. The first SKU is full price. Additional SKUs in the same product line are 30% off, because they share one design system.
Every one-off project includes 2–3 revision rounds and print-ready files: a print-ready PDF plus the editable AI source file. Packaging projects are designed to your printer's dieline. The calculator shows what's included for the options you pick.
You get a first draft within 48 business hours of brief approval. A single SKU typically takes 3–5 business days in total, a range of 2 or more SKUs 5–8 business days, and a full brand identity with packaging 10–20 business days. If you need it sooner, ask for rush delivery and we confirm the faster timeline in your quote.
