Fiji Packaging Regulations

Food labelling enforcement in Fiji is the responsibility of the Central Board of Health under the Ministry of Health and Medical Services, which administers the Food Safety Act 2003 and Food Safety Regulations 2009 (Legal Notice No. 20); Health Inspectors are designated as Authorised Officers. The Consumer Council of Fiji conducts market surveillance and refers non-compliant traders to the Ministry but does not itself hold enforcement powers. In 2024 a National Food Safety Taskforce was established as an inter-agency body to coordinate compliance. Kava export to the EU remains subject to the EU Novel Food Regulation 2015/2283, EU-wide authorisation as a food or supplement had not been granted as of mid-2026; exporters must verify destination-country regulations. Food exports to Australia and New Zealand must comply with FSANZ standards. Pharmaceutical products require Fiji Pharmacy and Poisons Board registration.
